US President, Donald Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump visited India recently and felicitated three strong women entrepreneurs of India at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) held in Hyderabad on Tuesday. She asserted those women possess “the vision, ambition, and grit of every entrepreneur”.
And not surprisingly, one among those successful women was an Assamese lady, Rajlakshmi Borthakur.
Borthakur, CEO and founder of TerraBlue XT, a healthcare start up, is well known for inventing a revolutionary device called T-jay, which detects epilepsy. She came up with the product when her son started showing epilepsy like symptoms.
She was applauded by Ivanka for “saving lives, creating jobs, and bringing hope.”
“When her son began having seizures at a young age, she decided to create her own solution to better monitor his health. Now her company, TerraBlue, aims to make specialty healthcare accessible. Rajlakshmi, your courage and determination is truly remarkable,” Ivanka said at GES.
Borthakur has been recognized as one of the 12 “women transforming India” by Niti Aayog and the United Nations. She had also won the Innovate for Digital India challenge last year for T Jay.
“TerraBlue XT evolved as I battled a severe spell of insecurity, chaos and confusion in my life. It is special because it reminds me and all of us who work here that beyond every dark cloud there actually is a silver lining – a strand of hope,” Borthakur said.
